Since the first wedding ceremony I was hired to play (in July 2005 at the Chicago Cultural Center), I have performed for scores of weddings across Chicagoland and beyond: in churches of every denomination plus hotels, banquet halls, parks, beaches, and backyards. A wonderful thing about bringing in a classical guitar to a wedding ceremony is that it can fit and work in any venue.

A solo classical guitar creates an elegant and romantic ambience for a ceremony. Whether you envision a traditional ceremony with classic repertoire or a non-traditional ceremony with a fresh interpretation of the matrimonial rites, I will do my best to help make your special day perfect.

Performing for a wedding ceremony is a great honor in addition to being a tremendous thrill. It is also a great responsibility, and I pride myself in my professionalism and positive demeanor. I am happy to meet with you early in the planning process to work through the right music for your day, including music during the pre-wedding prelude, music for ceremony itself, and music for the reception. And of course, I am always happy to share my experiences and offer counsel if asked.

Some folks hire me just for the ceremony, while others are interested in having me play just for the reception cocktail/dinner hour. I welcome all opportunities, but of course, I always find it to be a terrific transition from ceremony to reception if I perform for both, and package pricing is available!

In the demos below you'll hear me play a range of traditional wedding music, some well-known romantic Spanish classical pieces, and couple interpretations of more contemporary songs. I am always happy to honor any request one might have for ceremony music. I don't maintain a list of everything I've ever done, but it ranges from Adele to Outkast to the Flaming Lips to Lord of the Rings soundtrack to Final Fantasy video game music to Chopin - I'm happy to take on the challenge, and I'll let you know if something is beyond possible!

This first one is my newest for 2018, and a good demonstration of me playing standing up, which is how I like to play a cocktail hour/party, with two old school Brazilian choros - you don't need to know the names of these tunes to love the music and the good feelings it brings:

My writings on the wedding experience:

Choosing Perfect Ceremony Music: a short essay for those just starting to think about ceremony music and ceremony musicians.

A Musician in Processional: a longer essay on how I became a wedding musician and what playing for weddings means to me.
